Comcast Xfinity is rolling out a variety of new broadband internet and mobile service plans, along with longer price guarantees. A key feature of these plans is unlimited data, which is a huge issue for households with high internet usage.

These new options include choices for either a one-year or five-year price lock, so you’ll have stability in your monthly bills at the cost of being unable to switch without a fee. All internet packages now come with the Xfinity Wi-Fi Gateway, which comes with more control and better cybersecurity protection for connected homes. As an extra benefit, customers will receive a free line of Xfinity Mobile with unlimited service for the first year, with no additional fees or taxes.

That’s a pretty good deal, but keep in mind that there are tiers, so not everyone gets the fastest speeds. However, the four main internet tiers under this new structure will get unlimited data and the advanced Xfinity Wi-Fi Gateway.

The new pricing for broadband internet is where the differences begin. For a 300 Mbps download speed, the everyday price is $70 per month, the one-year price is $55, and the five-year guarantee is $40. For 500 Mbps, the everyday price is $85 per month, the one-year price is $70, and the five-year guarantee is $55. While those prices are nice, those are slower internet speeds than you’re probably used to.

For the faster speeds of 1 Gbps, the everyday price is $100 per month, the one-year price is $85, and the five-year guarantee is $70. The fastest tier, 2 Gbps, has a monthly price of $130, a one-year price of $115, and a five-year price of $100.

The Xfinity Wi-Fi Gateway is a major part of these new packages, and the claims about it are pretty good. It can apparently handle hundreds of devices connected at the same time, making it ideal for modern, heavily connected households. Users can manage these Wi-Fi features, including parental controls, through the updated Xfinity app.

Xfinity Mobile users also get access to a special feature called Wi-Fi PowerBoost. This feature boosts Xfinity Mobile speeds up to 1 gigabit per second, regardless of the customer’s internet plan when connected to their home Wi-Fi or any of the millions of Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots across the country. Since about 90 percent of mobile data usage typically happens over Wi-Fi, Xfinity Mobile is built to match how people use their phones today, blending access to top-quality Wi-Fi with a dependable 5G network.
