Recently, we covered a phone that packeda bonkers 7,000 mAh battery—about 40% bigger than the 5,000 mAh battery most big phones come with these days. Now, we have an 8,000 mAh one. It keeps getting crazier and crazier.
iQOO, a subsidiary of Vivo, has officially launched the iQOO Z10 Turbo+ 5G in China. The phone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ SoC, with a peak clock speed of 3.73GHz and an Immortalis-G925 GPU. It also comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 internal storage. That’s not the craziest thing about them, though. It has a massive 8,000 mAh battery, an insane amount that means it’s able to carry 60% more juice than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which, itself, packs a 5,000 mAh cell. To quickly top this up (because frankly, there’s no other way), there’s 90W fast charging.
What’s remarkable about it is that this phone doesn’t seem to be all that much thicker than phones with otherwise considerably smaller batteries. It’s just 8.16mm thick and weighs a mere 212g. It’s on the heavier side, sure, but the battery is absolutely huge. This is part of a trend with some of these phones that are only being released in Asia. Brands like Xiaomi and Realme are all launching, or working to launch, phones with 6,000 and 7,000 mAh batteries. Frankly, if these batteries are safe to use, I think this is very good, and it’s a trend that should come to phones launching stateside as well. It greatly increases battery life in our phones, letting us go longer between charges, and they also mean the batteries will last for longer before they need to be replaced because of degradation.
As for other specs, the phone has a large 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,800 x 1,260 pixels and a fluid 144Hz refresh rate. As far as camera goes, it’s equipped with a dual-camera array on the rear, with a 50-megapixel Sony main sensor with an f/1.79 aperture, which also features Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to minimize blur in photos and videos. This main camera is complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture. The camera system supports video recording up to 4K resolution and 1080p slow-motion capture. For selfies and video calls, the device incorporates a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.45 aperture.
The device runs on OriginOS 5, which is based on the new Android 15 operating system. The phone has support for Wi-Fi 7 as well as Bluetooth 5.4. You won’t be able to buy this, as it will not launch in the US, but can someone please launch one of these huge battery phones stateside? I’m personally putting my hopes in OnePlus since it’s the only big Chinese company selling phones in the US, but we’ll need to wait and see.
