We’ve seen tons of chargers with different power outputs. 45W, 60W, 75W, and even 100W. Sometimes even more. You’ve probably never seen a 500W charger before, but now UGREEN has released one that you can buy starting today.
UGREEN has just launched the Nexode 500W 6-Port GaN Desktop Fast Charger, a new charging stationpreviously unveiledright at the beginning of this year, and designed to power multiple high-performance devices simultaneously. We call it a station and not a charger because this is not your typical wall charging brick. You’re not going to be plugging this absolute unit of a charger directly into a wall, so this is more of a “station” that can sit on your desk or a bedside table. It has a cable that comes out of the back and finally plugs into the wall outlet, similar to the power cable you would use for a computer’s power supply unit (PSU).

Still, for all intents and purposes and other than that extra step, this is basically just a gigantic charger. It can deliver up to 500W of power to connected devices, so it has more things in common with a power supply than we initially thought. A lot of power supplies come with over 500W of power output, going up to 650W, 750W, 850W, or even 1000W, but some 500W power supplies are still sold for computers with lower power needs.
This is clearly meant as a replacement for all of your charging bricks—it has a wide port selection to go with that 500W maximum output, including one USB-A port and a whopping five USB-C ports. This configuration allows it to charge multiple devices at once, such as several laptops, a tablet, and a smartphone, from a single power source. The company states this design can help reduce clutter and streamline charging for those who rely on numerous electronic devices for their work or personal use.
The ports themselves, on their own, aren’t too shabby either. You’re not going to be able to squeeze the full 500W out of a single port, but one of its five USB-C ports is able to deliver up to 240W of power, using the USB Power Delivery 3.1 standard. According to UGREEN, this output is more than enough to fast-charge demanding devices like a 16-inch MacBook Pro, which it claims can be charged from 0 to 60% in approximately 30 minutes.
Internally, the charger utilizes six gallium nitride (GaN) chips. These are typically used by these companies to make compact charging bricks that can still deliver a decent power output, and while this isn’t compact at all, it has a crazy power output for its size, so it’s well used here.
This is priced at $249.99 in the United States, so it’s a bit on the steep side as far as pricing goes, but it can also replace all of your chargers, so it could be worth it for you. Check it out onUGREEN’s websiteand onAmazon.
