You’ve probably been in this situation: you wanted to do something, you added that to a note on your phone, and then totally forgot about it. I’ve been there before, but luckily, I explored the option to add my favorite notes to my Android phone’s home screen.

I have followed the following instructions on my Google Pixel 9 Pro XL running Android 16. The steps will slightly vary depending on your specific phone model.

Add Google Keep’s Notes to Your Android Phone’s Home Screen

While there are manynote-taking apps available for Android, I primarily only useGoogle Keepas it syncs well with my account and lets me access my notes on all my devices. If you’re also a loyal Keep user, here’s how to add a note from this app to your phone’s home screen.

On your Android phone, access the home screen where you want to add a Keep note. Tap and hold on the screen and choose “Widgets.” Scroll down and select “Keep Notes.” Select a note layout from the available options.

Google Keep will ask you to choose the note you want to add as a widget to your phone’s home screen; select the note. You’ll now see your note appearing on your home screen. You can drag the widget to change its place on your home screen, and you can also use the handles around the widget to resize it.

Tap outside the widget area, and your note is now pinned to your home screen.

In the future, if you’d like to remove this note widget, tap and hold on the widget and drop it onto “Remove.” Note that this doesn’t delete the actual note; it only removes the widget for your note.

Use ColorNote? You Can Add This App’s Notes to Your Android Home Screen As Well

ColorNoteis an excellent alternative to Google Keep. If you’re already using this app or looking for a Keep alternative, you’ll be glad to know you may use this app to add sticky notes to your Android phone’s home screen.

To do that, first, ensure you’ve installed ColorNote on your phone. Then, access the home screen where you want to add your note. Tap and hold on the screen and choose “Widgets.” In the Widgets menu, expand “ColorNote.” Then, select the kind of note to add.

ColorNote will ask you to pick the note you’d like to pin to your phone’s home screen. Choose a note from the list. You can drag and drop the note widget anywhere on your home screen, as well as use the handlers around the note widget to resize the widget.

In the future, to remove the note widget, tap and hold on the widget and drop it onto “Remove.”

Learn to Organize Home Screen Notes, or Things Will Get Cluttered

I added a few notes to my phone’s home screen and quickly realized that things had started becoming cluttered. I then thought about it and came up with two ideas to kind of better manage my notes.

Separate Work and Personal Notes

Since I had both work and personal notes on my phone, I chose different home screens for different note types. For example, the first home screen contained all my personal notes, and the second one only had my work notes.

That allowed me to quickly get to the note types that I wanted at any specific point of time.

Color Code Your Notes

Spotting color-coded notes is easier than anything else, and that’s exactly what I did with my notes. I put my high-priority notes in red color, mid-priority ones in yellow color, and low-priority ones in green color. Then, I could quickly glance at my notes, knowing what required my immediate attention.

If you want tochange a note’s color in Google Keep, access your note in the app, tap the color palette at the bottom, and choose the color you want. To change a note’s color in ColorNote, open your note in the app, tap the pencil icon at the top, select the current color icon, and choose the new color. ensure to tap the checkmark icon to save any changes.

And that’s how I made my phone’s home screen remind me of the things that I had to do and were saved in my notes. I’d be curious to know what notes you’ve placed on your phone’s home screen.
