Summary
Earlier this year, DirecTV announced a slew of genre packs for its streaming platform, and now it’s getting even better. Just in time for summer, today DirecTV unveiled an affordable new “MyKids” streaming package for only $20 a month. Cord-cutters looking for a family-friendly solution now have one more option worth exploring.
Instead of getting a huge bundle of channels you’ll never watch for one hefty fee, DirecTV lets you choose from several news and entertainment tiers. You build the streaming platform to fit your needs. The popular satellite TV provider revealed a pricey$70 MySports packagein January, followed by three moreGenre packs in February.
If those packages are too expensive or you’re simply looking to keep the kiddos entertained, you’ll love its latest offering. Here’s what you need to know about the new DirecTV MyKids package.
With the DirecTV MyKids bundle, you’ll gain access to a ton of content from Paramount, Disney, and more, all for only $20 per month. Some of the channel lineups include Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, Nick Jr., and TeenNick. Others include BabyFirst TV, LooLoo Kids, and others. Then, you’ll get Disney Junior, Disney Channel, Disney XD, and full access to Disney+. For those unaware, Disney+ is $10 a month itself, making this a pretty good value.
DirecTV has put a lot of effort into switching from an old-school satellite TV provider to a full-fledged streaming service. With this new package, users can choose between several lineups or even bundle multiple options together. They’re à la carte, if you will. DirecTV now offers MyKids, MySports, MyEntertainment, MyNews, and MiEspañol. Also, any of those gives you access to the MyCinema mini pack as an add-on for only $10 per month.
Additionally, DirecTV announced that alongside the new MyKids line, the company is bolstering some of its existing options to provide even more value. For example, the MyEntertainment and MySports Genre packs now come filled with additional programming from Paramount at no extra cost. Expect to see channels including BET, CBS, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, MTV2, and VH1.
With this news, DirecTV now has a little something for everyone. For $20 per month, you can get a bunch of channels for kids through the MyKids bundle, enjoy endless sports this fall with MySports for $70, or stay entertained with movies and TV shows for $35 per month. Just keep in mind that, like all streaming services these days, the more you bundle, the closer you’ll get to those old and expensive cable TV packages in terms of pricing.
