For a limited time, Audio-Technica is offering its iconic ATH-M50x and ATH-M50xBT2 headphones in an Ice Blue colorway. It’s a cool departure from Audio-Technica’s usual color scheme, and notably, this color was selected by Audio-Technica’s biggest fans.
The ATH-M50 series originally launched in 2007. Today, it’s one of the most recognizable headphone models of all time, and it’s available in several different forms (including the wireless ATH-M50xBT2). And while Audio-Technica tends to be a bit conservative with its designs and color choices, it broke the mold in 2020 by asking customersto vote ona limited-edition ATH-M50x colorway.
An orange “Lantern Glow” colorway won in 2020 and launched a year later. Now, we’re seeing the results of Audio-Technica’slate-2022 poll, which prompted customers to vote on Ice Blue, Honey Hive, Sweet Sakura, and Desert Mirage colors. The crispy Ice Blue colorway won, of course.
Audio-Technica’s ATH-M50x wired headphones offer studio-grade sound in an affordable package. They use 45mm dynamic drivers and have a collapsable design that’s perfect for travel. Plus, they come with several locking headphone cables and a 1/4" adapter for professional hardware (amplifiers, audio interfaces, instruments, and so on). Anecdotally, I’ve owned a pair of ATH-M50x headphones for nearly a decade, and they’re still bumpin'.
Those who prefer a Bluetooth connection can grab the ATH-M50xBT2 headphones, which are also available in this Ice Blue colorway. The wireless headphones feature a nearly 50-hour battery life, Fast Pairing support, and an integrated microphone for phone or video calls. In terms of sound quality, the ATH-M50xBT2 are equal to their wired counterpart, and they feature an optional wired connection.
