LOL: Last One Laughing UKis a game show starring ten comedians, all in a room together with a simple aim: make each other laugh. Should any of them crack up, they’re awarded a yellow card. A second strike results in a red and they’re out of the game. The last comedian standing is the winner. Considering everyone taking part makes others laugh for a living, it’s a tough competition, but one that makes for hilarious viewing.

This edition of the show features great British comedians like Bob Mortimer, Daisy May Cooper, and Richard Ayoade. You may not know all of them—or indeed any of them, depending on where you live and your exposure to UK comedy—but it doesn’t matter. The fun comes in watching the contestants tell silly stories, fire off jokes, and put on bizarre performances in a bid to get a single laugh. As you might imagine, it’s also amusing to see everyone attempting to stifle their reactions.

The show originated in Japan with the nameDocumental, and Amazon has since adapted it for many countries like Australia, Canada, and Ireland—though curiously there hasn’t been a US version yet. Not all of them are as good as the UK one, though; here the participants each have their own comedic style, and they seem to genuinely enjoy one another’s company.

Much has been said aboutThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, like the fact that it is the most expensive television series ever produced. Set in the world created by author J. R. R. Tolkien, it’s clear to see where much of the money has gone—the show looks beautiful, with detailed and expansive sets that immerse you in Middle-earth, and the visual effects in the epic action sequences and fantasy creatures are impressive.

But the show is more than just its visual splendor. Fans ofThe Lord of the Ringswill appreciate the dramatic story, set long before the journeys of Bilbo and Frodo, which charts the rise of an ancient evil. That said, it may be even better for franchise newbies who have no idea where everything is heading but simply want a new fantasy show to dive into (especially after Amazon’s cancelation ofThe Wheel of Time).

I don’t thinkThe Rings of Poweris perfect. It shifts perspectives between many characters, to the point where it becomes a little tricky to follow, but this is where binging has benefits. Season two also has tighter writing, which will hopefully improve further with the upcoming third season.

As the show progresses, the pair begin to learn more about the odd company that they work for and about each other, all the while completing high-stakes missions. Donald Glover and Maya Erskine are great as the two leads, both charismatic and with believable chemistry. There are also lots of great guest stars who don’t overstay their welcome, like John Turturro and Sarah Paulson.

Mr. & Mrs. Smithhas been renewed for a second season, though it appears that neither Glover nor Erskine will be back. That’s disappointing, especially considering how the first season ends, but there is potential to turn this into an anthology show, which is also intriguing. Regardless of what happens, the first season makes for a perfect weekend binge.

Just as you shouldn’t overlook these shows, there are alsoPrime Video features you should explore. This includes the ability to share your subscription with others and download content for offline viewing. Be sure to get your money’s worth!
